Polio, richiesta di aiuto dall’Argentina

GRAZIE, FRANCESCO DEMOFONTI. “My name´s Adriana. I´m 51, I ´ve been suffering from the affect-efect of poliomyelitis for a year and a half mainly in the left leg and my right foot. During the first years, I walked with crutches but during the fourth one, my right hip started to dislocate. When I was 14, doctors decided to fix it. It was a serious mistake and I´m still suffering its consequences. I´ve been in plaster, in bed and when they decided to take it out, I had lost the strength on my good leg, the right one and I´ve never recovered it. Besides, because of the wrong positions due to the fixation, the knee started to rotate. I incorporated bad habit positions that made my articulations get worse. I fell many times and that made things even worse. I managed with common boots adaptated, Canadian ones. In 1996, I found Dr Castillo Morales Clinic, before that, I had never had a continous rehabilitation; only when the pain in my arms and leg got worse with different treatments. Dr Castillo´s method is very good, but where I live nobody knows it so nobody practises it. I was ordered short “ ferulas “ since a year , I managed quite well for a period of time till the deterioration in the knee is such that I can hardly walk. Now we are trying long “ ferulas” in both legs, but with my fixed hip it´s quite hard for me to put them and walk. I wonder if there´s somebody who has suffered from poliomyelitis and has the same characteristics as mine. I had had many specific medical checks but I have many symptoms of the Post Poliomyelitis syndrome: tireness, sleeping problems, pains in my joints and muscles that appear and disappear without and explanation. My doctor and me wanted to know if it is convenient to use ELECTROMAGNOTHERAPY AND ELECTROSTIMULATION. We´ve tried common electrostimulation with good results, but we wanted to know your opinion about the Russian waves. We´ll appreciate if you can guide us because we don´t know to whom ask for it. I belong to the Argentinian Post Poliomyelitis group, and the ONG. We are trying to organize a Congress where we´d like your presence to inform us all what you know about this topic. Regards.
